Just before the turn of the century the first vines were planted and in 2008 the first wine was distributed: The Pietricci 2005. In Italy, the wine was an instant success and is on the wine list of prestigious restaurants such as Santo Padre, Dal Bolognese and Rosciolo. Orcaio was bottled a while later, and since 2009 Pianese produces a white wine: Le Cionce. Our most prestigious wine, Fosso degli Sciadatti, is available now in magnums.

Pietricci is a mixture of the typical Tuscan Sangiovese grape, Merlot, Sirah, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon.
Each year the winemakers of Pianese adjust the wines slightly, depending on the climate conditions, so each vintage has it’s specific characteristics. Pietricci is a full aromatic wine and ideal for 5 to 10 years aging.
Orcaio 2005 is made of 100% Sangiovese grapes. For the vintage 2006 the winemaker added a small amount (20%) of the other grapes of the vineyard. Orcaio has been matured in wooden barrels for a longer period than Pietricci and therefore its taste is softer and richer. Also the terroir, the refined taste of the soil of the vineyard, is more pronounced. Orcaio is ideal for 15 to 20 years aging.
The white wine of Pianese is made mainly of the Ansonica grape. It has a special bouquet, a subtle fruitiness. This is a wonderful all-evening-white-wine. Le Cionce is made in exclusive amounts.
The master of the Pianese wines is made of Sirah and Cabernet Franc and has matured in oak barrels for three years. If one opens the bottle there is an immediate notice of rural quality; This wine can compete with the important wines of the Bordeaux region. Still it’s bouquet has the typical character of the soil of the Pianese vineyard in Tuscany.
